About Coach Jen Johnson

Coach Jen Johnson will begin her thirteenth season of coaching in the Fall of 2020. She is currently the Head Volleyball Coach at Delaware Military Academy. Prior to coaching at DMA, she spent 4 years as the Head Coach at Newark High School. She has previously worked as the head coach of the 10-12's team for Premier Volleyball Club, the 12's coach for Delaware Juniors, the freshman coach for Padua Academy and the Head Coach of the University of Delaware Women's Club Team.


Coach Johnson has a love for coaching that continues to grow. Her focus is to teach better communication, technique and game intelligence, while also developing the "whole athlete."


Jen began playing volleyball at Ursuline Academy and played collegiately at Millersville University. During her 4 seasons at MU, she was the PSAC Rookie of the Year and chosen for the PSAC Eastern Division Second Team. 


Besides coaching, Jen is a third grade teacher at Newark Charter School. She has been married to her husband Scott for 18 years and has 2 teenage boys at DMA.

Program

Beginner Program

Our beginner program will focus on teaching the basic techniques of the sport. Fundamentals of the game and the teaching of basic skills in the different positions will be taught. The camp will emphasize the fundamentals of serving, passing, setting, and hitting with a goal of developing players’ skills in the sport.

Advanced Program

Our advanced program will focus on improving and further developing basic techniques of the game. The camp will further develop and improve upon players skills in serving, passing, setting and hitting. Improvement of individual skills based on the different positions of the sport will be emphasized. Offensive and defensive systems will be introduced. The goal of the camp is to further develop player’s skills through the use of drills and competitions while focusing on increasing player’s knowledge of the game.
